Yes, this is why I always resisted the notion of good and evil, especially within historical contexts, because it encourages us to over-simplify, instead of digging deeper into uncomfortable places. Since you studied the Holocaust, you might've read "Eichmann in Jerusalem," which explored the role bureaucracy played in perpetrating the most heinous of atrocities, how the system compartmentalized people, making it easier for individuals to shunt responsibility and claim ignorance. That doesn't exonerate administrators within the German War Machine, of course, but it does make things much more complicated.

Regarding the Queen and the British monarchy, apart from the fact that it's a completely outdated, unjust form of "government," I just never understood the fascination. I guess it's kind of like celebrity obsessions, but I don't really get that either.
