Keep my wife’s name out your f*kin mouth
To slap a heaux or not to slap a heaux? And why do ppl care so much is the question?
Hey everyone! Please like, share on your socials and leave comments. Let me know what you’re thinking! I love to hear from you.
We’ve all heard the audio, seen the video and read the “hot takes” but in case you’ve been living under a rock (pun intended), Will Smith punched Chris Rock for making fun of Jada’s alopecia at the Oscars and I’ve made some observations:
White people love taking some sort of fake moral high ground when it comes to violence
Let’s remember that these people love to “tirar la piedra y esconder la mano” (throw the rock and hide the hand) like these foos havent been murdering and raping their way around the globe. Europe did not send their best, they were literally title-less, criminals set on stealing wealth. Let’s remember these fine Americans for who they really are quick yeah?
The transatlantic slave trade saw some 12.5 million Africans put onto slave ships by Europeans and European-Americans.
Between 1492 and 1900 12 million Indigenous people were murdered by European-Americans in what is now considered America.
European Americans routinely tortured, lynched, raped and ATE (yes ate) enslaved people for hundreds of years. They also tortured and lynched Latinos after 1848 and stole their land. (RE: the Texas rangers)
Just like we are the descendents of those who were colonized and harmed these are the descendents of the savage criminals who did the harming and the colonizing. All of this to say, the whites can be quiet, they have proven to be the most violence people on Earth, so you can run tell that homeboy. (If you have a problem with this statement go read any history book as long as it’s not from Texas or Florida.)

An open handed slap does not violence make
Let’s be real, Will did NOT put his entire strength into that slap. It was a symbolic slap. It was a “I challenge you to a duel” slap. It was an “oh you thought” slap. And ya’ll know this man can throw a punch, I see him in the gym on IG phewww. He played Muhammed Ali, remember? There was incredible restraint shown on Will’s part if you ask me. The main thing that stuck out to me was how out of character this is for Will Smith. His entire public persona is about how nice and likable he is. This could very well change his perception to the public if it hasn't already. I just thought it was strange, because Chris Rock is obviously a long-time colleague. I really think he’s been dealing with some things and this was just the last straw.
Angry “controversial” male comedians need to shut up already
Chris Rock is out of touch and angry that he can no longer punch down with his jokes. Like Dave Chappell, Chris has been complaining for years how “no one can take a joke anymore.” These old comedians really need to get it together, I weep for the gen x-ers. They’ll do the absolute most to avoid accountability or ever admit they were wrong. Being angry that you can’t make fun of people, expose their insecurities, make them feel bad, or use their identities and struggles as a joke is weird. Seems like something you got from your boomer parents and that is exactly what therapy is for.
Avenging your partner, especially a Black woman, can be done how you see fit
Do I think Will should have slapped Chris? I feel like it was the law of “fuck around and find out” and Chris found out. The other conversation I am seeing floating around is the narrative of protecting Black women. Why would Chris make such a lame ass joke at her expense to a room full of white people on such an important day? I bet you $1000 Jada was tripping about her hair before they left the house, and I bet Will was like “don’t worry you look great” and then Chris Rock goes, hold my beer. Would you have slapped a heaux? I dunno if I would have had the guts to get up on stage and do it on national tv but hey, to each their own.
Oh no, it’s toxic masculinity… is it though?
Is masculinity toxic? Is the sky blue? Is water wet? Was this a toxic and a masculine display? I dunno, honestly. Cuz let's be real, Will was supporting Jada because Chris made a very public jab and Will returned it and then he cried on stage. I get that we think any physical altercation is toxic masculinity but he did what he thought was the best action to defend his wife’s honor. But the concept of honor is weird though too. We won’t ever really know what inside someone drives or pushes them to act out when they lose their cool. It was all kind of weird. I still wonder if it was a publicity stunt. Will has issued his apology but we shall see how this plays out.
