About me

The Montoya Minute is a weekly newsletter that comes out Tuesdays and Thursdays. One of those days will be my published articles with extra commentary and voiceover. One will be my substack only posts about current events and whatever is annoying me.

I’m a Jane of many trades but I’d have to say writing is my main squeeze. I’ve been a journalist and a content creator for the last 6 years. In that time I’ve written about politics, entertainment, culture, food, spirituality, and music. My newsletter is a mix of my work with added commentary and bts as well as anything I find interesting. I tend to focus where there is fuckery afoot like when the headlines are misleading, the news stories are deserving more attention, or we’re not looking at things within the proper context. I like debunking popular takes and offering a look at the language because that's where propaganda gets hidden.

My journalistic work has been featured in Refinery29, Teen Vogue, ArtBound, HipLatina, Mitu, and I’m a regular contributor for POPSUGAR

Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter.

More about me:

I’m 35 year old Chicana living in Southern California, with my best friend Ruby who is also my dog. I don’t identify with a political party, I’m not down with capitalism, imperialism, or mindless consumerism. I am for protecting the environment and a woman’s right to choose. I believe that billionaires are policy failure and that it is the right of the people to abolish systems that are unjust. I support Black lives, the LGBTQ+ community, Indigenous land rights, immigrants, asylum seekers, and the right of all people to have a dignified life.

Forget the FOMO
